After receiving 31 votes, I’ve decided to compile multiple methods of tallying our ranked vote, since I know this is a topic many are highly invested in. First off, the raw data.

The chart copied from the forms back end
numerical data

From that we can see remove mono to be a very polarized choice with majority voting it to be their least favourite option. t0 or 70 has the most number 1 votes, but does not hold a majority itself, and so the various tally methods can be employed. 70 points following the draft received no last picks, making it the least disliked option, but also received many 4th choices (likely due to being the weakest of the options that include a mono bonus).

Method 1: Instant Runoff

Instant runoff looks for a majority in the number one votes. If there is no such majority, the number two votes are added, repeating if that does not reach a majority and so on. Using this method, 70 points after the draft would win due to having 17 votes, with t0 getting second at 15.

Method 2: Elimination Instant Runoff

In Elimination runoff, the least popular option is removed and the second place votes from people who voted it their most popular choice are then tallied. If a majority is reached, the tally ends. If not, the next option is eliminated and so on until a majority is reached. In this case, monotype receiving 70 points during the draft is eliminated and the second place votes are then tallied for those voters. All 4 users who voted for this method voted 70 after as their second choice, bringing that choice up to 11 votes. still no majority, and so t0 is eliminated.

after 1 elimination

Of those users, 1 selected remove mono as their 2nd choice, 2 selected 70 points after draft as their second choice, and 2 selected t0 or 70. Still no majority.

after 2 eliminations

Next cut is remove mono. When this is done, the tally is now 16 for 70 after, 15 for t0 or 70.

Final tally

*Note: Some users had an eliminated option as their second/third vote. In these cases the next option was chosen.

Method 3: Point Tally

In this method, each choice will be given a score value. First choice is 5 points, 2nd 3 points, 3rd 2 points, 4th 1 point, and 5th zero. Applying this method, 70 after the draft wins with a tally of 82, and t0 or 70 gets second with 76. I initially applied a negative to last place votes, but opted to instead increase the value of first place votes. As 70 points after received 0 last place votes, this would not have affected the result.

Scores after votes are converted

Method 4: Golf Tally

A golf tally is similar to above, except votes give their direct score. Lowest score wins. Using this method, again 70 after wins with a low score of 80. We can also see how badly remove mono gets ejected if this method was used.

Conclusion

It’s pretty definite that 70 points after the draft wins by virtue of being the choice that is least hated, and to me this makes sense. There were a number of voters on both sides who chose it as it is the least disruptive during the draft OUTSIDE of their first choice, giving it many second picks. Also, with the opinions on mono being polarizing, the last places generally went to the stronger positions, with eliminate mon getting showered with a majority of last place picks and the two t0 options splitting. Note there are only 30 last place votes due to one user not choosing a 5th option and instead picking two 4ths. It didn’t affect either runoff result, and didn’t change the result of the two point based results.
